Instructors and/or TAs can reach out to the ASU Bookstore for information on how to access their textbook.
The Course Development Worksheet serves as a collaborative guide for faculty and instructional designers to plan, design, and track the progress of new courses. It outlines ASU Online’s course development process, provides space for course outlines and instructor input, and ensures alignment with quality standards. Faculty are expected to complete all course elements at least two weeks before launch to allow for quality assurance review. The worksheet is supported by key resources, including the ASU Online Faculty Document (with quality checklists and pacing milestones), instructional designer services, and the ASU Online Faculty Center in Canvas for orientation, best practices, and peer forums. Additional training opportunities such as the Master Class for Teaching Online, media support through the New Media Studio, and ongoing quality assurance services are also highlighted. Faculty can also access support from UTO’s 24/7 Canvas and tech help, ASU librarians for copyright guidance, and the Disability Resource Center for accessibility accommodations.
The Instructor Toolkit provides a step-by-step Course Development Checklist to guide faculty in preparing high-quality courses before the start of the term. It covers essential tasks from 3–12 months out such as consulting with instructional designers, building courses in Canvas, recording accessible lecture videos, and selecting inclusive course materials to final preparations just weeks before classes begin. Instructors are reminded to review accessibility, check navigation, ensure syllabus accuracy, update due dates, and verify functionality of all media and links. By following this timeline, instructors can deliver well-organized, student-ready courses and begin the semester confident that everything is in place to support effective teaching and learning.
